ABOUT US

In 1973 members of the Jondaryan community accepted the gift of the historic Jondaryan Woolshed from Lawrie and Lyn Rutledge.  With the support of volunteers, community and businesses over the next 30 years the site was developed into a major tourist attraction.   Many of the buildings on the site came from rural properties connected with the original Jondaryan Station of the 19th century.

The shearing shed was added to the Queensland Heritage Register in 1992.  The large collection of wagons, tractors and agricultural machinery are housed in sheds built or donated to the Museum.

In 2002, the site came under the care of the Jondaryan Shire Council until 2008 when it changed to the Toowoomba Regional Council.   In the past 20 years new facilities have been added to the site to enhance its amenity including the very popular caravan park.

Our Vision

The historic Jondaryan Woolshed will be one of Australia’s premier tributes to the great Australian wool industry and its links to the development of agriculture on the Darling Downs.
